I saw on the phone list that a new version (2.6.3) is available for the Xiaomi redmi K20/Mi 9T, which I have in version 2.5.
But my phone doesn’t offer me to upgrade to this new version 2.6.3.
I check the installation page: Install /e/OS on a Xiaomi Redmi K20 / Mi 9T - “davinci”
But! For the first time, I see that my phone needs a very specific “firmware” for this new update, which wasn’t necessary before.
On the installation page, there are 3 choices of firmware to install:
Mi 9T (Global) - V12.1.4.0.RFJMIXM
Mi 9T (EEA) - V12.1.1.0.RFJEUXM
Mi 9T (Russia) - V12.1.2.0.RFJRUXM
I don’t know how to find the current firmware version in my phone. I know the phone model M1903F10A, but I don’t know how to find the firmware version?
Then, I don’t know if my phone is a global or an EEA, how do I find out?
First I think what aibd means in his first reply that is the method for a fresh install.
I don’t know your level of experience but what you are basically doing is updating the recovery image and then sideloading eOS 2.6u. I first tried going direct to the sideload but I had to install the recovery image first by fastbboot. Then reboot to the new recovery tool 2.6. Again a least it seemed I did have to update my recovery on a Moto phone.
Once in recovery 2.6 you enable ADB, then go to ADB sideload the 2.6u zip file for your phone. I was able to do this without wiping the phone and all data was intact.
What is the difference between the community version and the official version?
I installed the version indicated by /e/OS. It’s the official version, isn’t it?
