The built-in updater doesn’t offer v1.6 on my XZ2 Compact. I see the update instructions for this device address only the ROM itself. Does the recovery also have to be updated to v1.6? Should this be done the same way as the initial install instructions describe?
Has anyone else updated their XZ2c from 1.4 to 1.6?
I decided simply to do this myself. First, I copied the new e-1.6-s-20221201239247-dev-xz2c.zip to my XZ2c’s SD card.
Next, I updated recovery as follows.
reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash boot recovery-e-1.6-s-20221201239247-dev-xz2c.img
Then I manually booted into recovery mode by, with the device powered off, holding Volume Down + Power. I observed that recovery was now v1.6.
Selecting, “Apply Updates”, then choosing to select the update from the SD card, the update process showed steps 1/2 and 2/2, then finished.
On restarting the system, I was running v1.6, and everything seems fine…so far.
