Hi
I am upgrading(at last)on a G7 river. Can’t the details from settings for you as the the phone is now stuck in /e recovery.
The upgrade is to e-1.16-t-20231019342574-dev-river.zip from e-1.17-s-20231113351092-dev-river.zip.
I understood that no data format is necessary with this upgrade and I flashed the /e recovery to make sideloading easier(TWRP won’t work anyway for sideloading).
Anyway connecting through the recovery mode for sideloading is working and the upgrade proceeds to the usual 47% giving me Total xfer: 1.00x when finished. However in the recovery bt left I get 0 failure.
In recovery the active partition is B. I think that should be A. I this the reason for failing? What else could this be?
Thanks
Which /e/ recovery did you flash?
to > e-1.16-t-20231019342574-dev-river.zip
from e-1.17-s-20231113351092-dev-river.zip.
While the Android version is upgrade, the /e/OS version is a downdate.
A downdate will often fail, usually with an error message.
Generally there is no good reason to install anything but the latest, so I would be inclined to flash
recovery-e-1.21-t-20240325389105-dev-river.img
followed by
e-1.21-t-20240325389105-dev-river.zip
Thanks for that
Apologies for the error. I’m upgrading from /e S to /e T. I decided to go to the lower 1.16 T to begin. The recovery is same 1.16
Incidentally when I say I’m stuck in recovery it’s just that. When I reboot the system returns me to recovery
- try to Install a more recent build, i mean latest /e/OS-T
or
- try to perform a factory-reset
or
- flash latest recovery-e
Understood; you should however still be able to boot to fastboot in order to flash e-recovery.
Yep you’re right I can do that. But any attempt to boot /e resulted in a return to recovery.
Anyway I’ve upgraded to recovery-e-1.21-t-20240325389105-dev-river.img and installed e-1.21-t-20240325389105-dev-river.zip.
Once again adb returns Total xfer: 1.00x
Recovery returns Install completed with status 0 and yet this time it works! I now have Android 13. It wouldn’t boot with e-1.16-t.
How is that?
thanks to all
