Upgrade to android 16

When will smartphones with official support, such as CMF Phone 1, receive Android version 16?

I have taken a quick look at Week 18, Development and Testing Updates, and the CMF Phone 1 is not mentioned there. I would suggest that you ask there, it was probably forgotten to add it to the list.

I think we will never see A15 or A16 on offical rom on this phone….

they stopped selling it on their shop so it’s no longer a “priority candidate”, and non of the bugs are getting worked on

It’s quite disappointing. I bought this phone specifically for EOS and with the intention of keeping it for a long time. OK, it’s developed with limited resources (and thank you for that), it’s free, and it respects privacy. But for it to remain credible in the long term, I think it would be better to communicate more seriously rather than announcing things that ultimately are not delivered. I have to admit I feel deeply disappointed.

As I understand it, an update for cmf 1 will be released soon.

Week 21, Development and Testing Updates

All devices - official as well as community will get the latest OS build possible. For some an A16 may not be possible. For such devices it would be the next lower level possible. For example, if A16 is not possible then it would be A15. Official builds get OTA OS upgrades which take time as the changes need to be seamless and avoid data loss. Both Pixel 8 shiba and cmf 1 will get the OTA update. The ETA is the unknown factor at this time. Will share dates once I get them from the developers.

and I don’t see anything related to the update in gitlab or anywhere else

Actually there are 3 actively supported Android 16 roms:

1. The original NothingOS;
2. Evolution X https://evolution-x.org/devices/Tetris
3. BlissRoms BlissRoms

The only reason that makes me use e/os is the support of bank’s and and government’s apps. The real thing is that e-mail client is pretty old compared to Thunderbird, the Bliss Launcher is something that’s better to not comment, murena e-mail doesn’t support custom domains so there is no reason to use the account, there are few bugs with cmf phone 1 and e/os from day 0 and nobody is fixing them. The project seems to me a failure.
