I see the update from 10 of November in System Updates …
Now, I have not updated my Sony XA2 for a very long time, and I now want to make this device my daily driver… So I would like to update it to the latest version of the OS. As far as I remember, it is not possible to use the OTA updates if I have skipped some updates, so…what is the simplest option?
Hi @piero
Perhaps I am wrong, but I had in mind that there were some constraints (like being at a certain version to move to another one…). If it is not the case , and I can simply tap on the latest version showing up and skipping all the intermediate version, it is fine by me!
it is when I read posts like that Week 51, 2024: Development and Testing Updates - #4 by Manoj that I become confused … does it mean that I would not be able to update because I moving from a previous android version to the latest one available?
I have the impression that “simple” does not have the same meaning for everyone of us I followed that procedure for the first installation 5 years ago, and to me (a total stranger to firmware upgrades and so on), it would not qualify as “simple” at all … OTA updates are.
Only if the phone vendor has not released updated firmware since your first/last /e/ installation from scratch, (so you have latest existing firmware already installed as a base for /e/OS), easiest and fastest is to dirty upgrade your current /e/OS “R” or “S” version to latest “T” build using the already installed recovery-e

I have another question … since the device is today configured in a certain way, I had the request to replicate that with the new version of the OS. Now, the Sony XA2 had lawnchair installed instead of Bliss.
When I try to customize my Gigaset GS290 (configured with the latest /e/OS with Bliss launcher), in order to see if I would be able to have the same behaviour of the Sony XA2, I have noticed that I am not able to:
add widgets on the home screen (large watch / date)
add links on the home screen to contacts (direct SMS / direct call to some specific contacts)
add links to specific settings
place these widgets / shortcuts on a desired position on the home screen
Can you please confirm that this is well the case with Bliss launcher?
In addition, it seems as well that the version of Lawnchair was obsolete, no longer available, and the new version in beta … quickly checking in F-Droid, I could not find a launcher similar to Lawncher (unless I am wrong) …
Could you please suggest a privacy friendly launcher that would have the features mentioned above?
Thank you in advance.
Let me take the opportunity to wish you all a great Christmas holidays
Concerning Lawnchair and your question from the other thread: I am using version 14.Beta 3 on a FP5 with /e/ os 2.6.3 since a few versions (2.x). Until now everything works fine. I use it because I want to see some widgets on my home screen, which is not possible with the bliss launcher.
thank you very much @tomib for your feedback
From what you said, it seems to have the functions the old version had, so I guess I will go to Lawnchair again (perhaps I will test on the Gigaset GS290 first)
