Using Fast Pair with Moto Tag 2 not working

I own a Fairphone 6 with /e/ OS and recently I’ve had the need to track my Bluetooth Musicbox. The way I wamted to do it, was by using the FindHub App from google. After some research I bought a Moto Tag 2. Problem is, I can’t connect it, because /e/ OS has no Fast Pair (as far as I can tell).

Can you reccomend an alternative? Is there a way to activate Fast Pair? Is there a way to trigger Fast Pair Manually?

I’d appreciate any help. Thanks

Is there pairing within the app?

Sadly neither in the FindHub nor in the Moto Tag App

Wikipedia writes that Google Fast Pair is proprietary and this help page

rather confirms this.

I’ve managed to add the Moto Tag 2 on a different Android Phone. Now the Tag at least shows up in the FindHub. But I can’t use the Hub. I guess FindHub is just not functional on /e/ OS, which to be honest doesn’t surprise me on a very privacy oriented OS.

One Question I still have: is there an alternative? A way to track my Box/ Luggage/ Wallet that works with /e/ OS?

A device or gadget which features here Gadgets - Gadgetbridge will have the advantage that it can be separated from its proprietary app.

The reason I mention proprietary is as the “opposite” to free, libre, open source. Google is given the proprietary keys, we are not.
