Very low call volume

Hello everyone,

I’ve got a FairPhone 4 and a nasty problem that follow some /e/ update (I’ don’t remember if this is about the last or the penultimate update): the call’s audio volume is very, very low and I can’t hear who’s talking. Youtube and internet work fine, only calls have’got this problem.

I see that there is another topic about ( Low Call Volume on Fairphone 4 with /e/ OS – Any Fix? - #9 ) but I was unable to find a solution.

Can anyone help me?

I have encountered this a time or two on my CMF phone, but restarting the device has always fixed it. It has happened very infrequently.

I restart my phone every day but nothing.

In the mean thime, I ordered new earpiece and loudspeaker, I wonder if I can solve it…

I have the same problem on the Fairphone 4, it is not only you, and the max volume is more or less low depending on the e.os version. It seems the team is trying to fix the issue since in the latest release 3.6-a14, it is patched.

but the problem remains. Do I have to wait for the next version?

I changed the earpiece with a new one but nothing.

It’s very frustrating, a phone is primarly…a phone. I realized that this is an issue related to some updates: is there a way to report this bug to the developers?

Release notes, 3.6 (mentioned above) include

Fairphone 4

  • Fixed speaker volume being too low during phone calls.

A mention in Feedback for v3.6 thread would be expected to get back to devs.

After 3.7 version released the problem is still not resolved.

Same prooblem with the FP4 for me…

I am experiencing the same issue on my FP4

Reg the issue with low volume on the FP4 the team has updated that it would be working on a fix as part of the upgrade of the FP4 to A16.
The community build of the device is already on A16. We are working on the official A16 builds for the FP4.
Will share ETAs when available from the team.

Another user, here, experiencing same problem. I’ve updated to latest OS (currently 3.7.3-a14), disassembled and cleaned out earpiece, still having volume problem. Look forward to resolution!!!
