I noticed a problem with my FP3 and e/OS/3.0.1-t-20250606498724-official-FP3 this morning.
Charging is painfully slow. Around 30h for full charge is estimated. Not even fast enough to keep battery level when using it plugged in. Tested two different chargers, a computer USB port and two different cables. Already removed battery and pressed power button for several seconds.
There is no unexpectedly high battery drain when using the phone.
Weird thing: when the phone is switched off, charging speed is fast as expected.
This makes me think that it could be a software issue. Anyone else experiencing similar problems since the last update?
Oh no. Charging seems also slower when switched off. But at least i got to 60% during the night.
I think I will replace the bottom module. See if that helps…
Perhaps first carefully see whether there’s dirt or lint in the port and if so, whether you can remove it.

Yes, checked for dirt already.
Just tried with a powerbank with 2.4A port and it reduces charging time from estimated 30h to esimated 8-10h for a full load. This at least will get me through the next days until I have a solution.
Probably its the power IC on the mainboard then.Why didn’t they put this IC in the bottom module?!
Fun fact: The same powerbank already helped me with my FP1. Had a simmilar problem, just the other way round. The FP1 was charging normally when switched on, but not at all when switched off. This was quite critical, when the battery died. Then this powerbank was the only source with which I could get at least a little current in the phone. Barely enough to switch it back on and charge regulary.
What do e/os users do if their phone breaks? As a google user I would just borrow an old phone for a couple days and then look for a replacement. But I have no friends with ungoogled phones laying around. Maybe the wrong friends? 
When charging works (better) with a power bank this is in my eyes a sign for a broken charger (or USB port on a PC or whatever source you use).
Do you have (or had) any software controlling the charging process? There’s a new charging limit option in the OS, is this switched on or off? There are also some apps limiting charging. My thought is that something you don’t have in mind could have an impact on your charging.

I had the charging limit set to 90% for the last couple of month. I switched off charging limit yesterday, to see if it has an impact.
I have no battery or charging related apps installed.
I am now at 89%. Phone is switched on.
The powerbank 2.4A port gives me an estimated remaining charging time of one hour.
Same powerbank 1A port says 3 hours +
Lenovo desktop computer 3 hours +
I am at work right now so I can’t check other options.
But jesterday I checked:
HP notebook 30 hours for full load
Two different chargers 30 hours for full load
Note: USB ports on a PC (or Laptop) are sometimes not a good reference for charging. They can be very weak. There can also be totally different ports on the same device, one beside the other, and only one is powerful, the others are weak. If you have multiple ones check this out.
Yeah you have to be cognizant of what a PC supports when using it to charge. The USB standard has been a moving target for years. It updates pretty regularly and can be confusing. As is stands the limit for “standard” USB is 500mA@5V for USB A and 900mA@5V for USB C.
A decade or so ago an additional standard was placed on top of USB called USB-PD. Still there are some proprietary protocols for USB charging that pre-date that such as Qualcomm QC. Though they seem to be falling out of favor now. Personal computers may or may not support USB-PD. If they don’t support USB-PD they’re stuck at those low rates.
So generally you can expect chargers to support USB-PD, but you may or may not get those higher rates from a PC port. In my case, I have a desktop computer a few years old that maxes out 900mA@5V on USB C and 500mA@5V on USB A.

But I wonder, 500mA@5V is still 2.5W. The Fairphone 3 battery has 3600mAh. So the charge could be transferred in around 7 hours. I know that there are losses. But 30 hours compared to 7 hours seems too much. Or the other way round: 30 hours for full charge means around 120mA current. Much lower than any old standard. Thats why I thought something must be wrong with the chip or software.
I recieved a new QC 3.0 charger with cable today. So far it seems to work with charging times of 4 hours for full battery. Happy with it

I actually have my phone plugged into my computer quite a bit using scrcpy to mirror the phone’s screen with keyboard and mouse. On my computer’s USB A port it can actually discharge slightly when the screen is on. The C port can usually keep a positive rate with the screen on.
I any case, you can judge the charge time in terms of watt-hours. For example my Motorola phone has a 4200mAh battery with a nominal 3.8V. So charge capacity is 4.2Ah x 3.8V for about 16 watt-hours. On my computer’s A port, charge time would be 16 watt-hours divided by 2.5W which is 6.4 hours assuming screen off. It’s going to be somewhat more than that due to inefficiencies and other factors, but it still should be under 8 hours.
My wall wart is 30W and usually hovers around 24W (measured) when charging my Motorola phone. Considering the watt-hours of the battery I should get a full charge in 40 minutes, but it’s actually about an hour since the phone drops the rate down as the charge increases.
