VIPPS mobile payment app stopped working (Norway)

The norwegian VIPPS mobile payment app has stopped working. After the app was updated to version 8.23 it wouldn’t work on my FP4 with e/os v3.01.

I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. The app uses the norwegian BankID system for authentication which seems to work fine but I am never returned to the VIPPS app. BankID works fine otherwise.

I contacted VIPPS support and was told that only Chrome or Safari was supported. Chrome won’t install on e/os and I don’t want it either.

Any ideas anyone?

Maybe you can have a look at this link where the same issue is discussed for the Danish version of Vipps called MobilePay

Thanks for the suggestion Autobahn. The simpler solutions listed didn’t work, and I don’t dare root my phone in case other apps stop working.

I had the same issue with Swish (swedish version of VIPPS) and BankID on /e/OS 2.9.

To solve the issue I had to go to Settings → Apps → BankID → Open as standard and manually add the link app.bankid.com, screenshot below.

Can you try it to see if it solves your problem?

Thanks knille, I didn’t get to try your solution because VIPPS was updated this evening and now it’s working again

Problems that gets solved by them self is always nice

Vipps stopped working for me yesterday, or at least I noticed it then… Error message (translated from norwegian): “Security check failed. Vipps can not be used on a ‘rooted’ device.”

Downloaded a Root Checker and it reported “Not rooted”

Tried the “Danish” solution with no luck…

Reinstalled Vipps and now it is working but I have NOT activated tapping. The moment I try to activate tapping, the security check fails.

For now, I reinstall and do not activate tapping.

Edit the next day: Stopped working even without tapping…

I had that same issue for about a week, with the message “Something went wrong, try again later” whenever trying to unlock the app, which changed today to “Security check failed. Vipps cannot be used on a ‘rooted’ device”.
Uninstall-reinstall has fixed it for now, thanks for the tip.
