Week 4, 2025: Development and Testing Updates

Dear Manoj,
are there any plans and/or updates to upgrade the Gigaset GS290 (as a device which was formerly sold in your shop) to Android T or U (it’s on S now)? Thought that I once saw a test task in github on that endeavor. Would be great!
Thanks!

It will get an upgrade but it would not be immediate. Will update when I have some dates to share.

Hi @Manoj

Do you have some news about the stable release of the oneplus nord avicii. It still stucks on 2.4 version and no more update for almost three months now.

Thanks.

avicii /e/OS U work is in progress. First it would be for the community build.Stable OTA build development will be taken up later.

 Thanks for the reply. But I was mainly referring to the fact that the community version is updated with the latest 2.7 release. Whereas, as shown in the screenshot, for the stable version, the latest update stops at version 2.4.1.

There was an issue with the booting on the avicii due to which the builds were stopped after v2.4.1.

Just a small update, we have starting work on the A15 or /e/OS V code base. The development is still in its initial phase. The reason is we do not just copy paste the LOS code base, there are changes specific to /e/OS that need to be added, tested, debugged. Expect it will take a couple of months to be complete,Will update on the progress.

Hi @Manoj ,

Thanks for relaying you’re working on A15 / V, which is very new customers oriented

But as @postal8555 asked and for who no answer was given so far for many days, what is the release plan / work for official-eOS ? For him and his official FP5, he is stuck in A13 / T ; same for me and my official FP3, both on the official branch. Please, don’t avoid the question again. But don’t get my wrong, my phone is working fine like this and there is no rush needed for an Android upgrade, exept being up to date.

@GaelDuval But your official community needs to know what is the future for them, what to expected whithin a reasonnable timeframe (even if unexpected delays may always occurs) and seeing not everything is seemed to be done for the community branch upgrade only and that after buying the phone via Murena, you are let beside the road with marginal improvement…

Again, most if it is not the entire of your official community is very happy with your work .

Android 13 (T) will get security updates until early 2026, if prior Android versions are any indication. That’s the known future for now.
That’s not too bad a future for roughly a year still.
Please ask users of legacy devices how bad it is being “stuck” well within security update support.

I have already mentioned that the FP3 and FP5 will get upgrades. We do not have a timeline as yet from the developers. In case there is a date available I would share the same.

I personally don’t require a date for the OTA U update for FP5, just an indication if it will happen this quarter, this half of the year, or next year.
After the issues with 2.6.3 (on other devices) and the lack of fixes for long-standing issues on the FP5, I’m avoiding the community updates for a long time.
