Yesterday, when looking for pertinent updates etc. A popup saying use Telegram and get all announcements immediately on telegram. I tried downloading but Telegram Foss downloaded and then told that T Foss could not be used to generate new account. Now i do not see any sign of it. Anyone else?

From Foss app of Telegram new account can’t be created. It usually is written in the description.
Register via normal Telegram then switch to FOSS (or Mercurygram, etc)

it looks like telegram FOSS is no longer maintained, but Forkgram seems to be a good open source alternative to TelegramFOSS
Telegram FOSS is no longer updatet, the last version is 10.14.3 (2024/7/23), while Forkgram is at 11.9.02.
Well, am I the only one that received the “invitation” to use it for the updates etc and get allthe notifications qjickly?
I dont know if its a good addition to my apps or not?
Did you visit the Telegram website? I could imagine the website promoting to use the App version of their services, I’ve seen other websites do it.
If you didn’t use Telegram before, just don’t bother, I guess.
Thank you @AnotherElk et al. I think i am gonna stick with my default position: If. I don’t request it, then ignore it. I did read about it sounds like it could be a really good idea, but the Foss thing …no best leave it alone. I do like the announcements and notices that we get.
