Regrettably I do need WhatsApp, does anybody know if the app will be updated to a more recent version which is supported? At the moment the app is unusable.

/e/OS 1.0 and above contains the new App Lounge which would solve your problem, but since you will no longer receive OS updates, you have to find another solution.
So I think it’s best to install Aurora Store to keep your apps up-to-date.
Also keep in mind that without OS updates, you might experience other problems or security risks in the future. If I were you, I would already look for another device…
Thank you for your answer, I had enabled automatic update installation for /e/OS, so I did not yet know my version wasn’t supported anymore. Forgot to check. I was already looking, 3G support is ending soon as well. I will check the Aurora Store for now. Thanks again!

Just discovered that you can also download an apk of the “new” App Lounge if you have /e/OS <1.0
