Hey there, any idea, when we can expect the next update for the self-hosted cloud? The last one is from beginning of the year.
Thanks

I have the impression that the self-hosted cloud will not be maintained any further but will stay as it is. Is this correct or is it intended to update the cloud to a higher nextcloud version?
They wrote in a development post recently that they plan to update but no ETA is out as of yet.
I’ve asked about this a few times as well. On the one hand, Nextcloud v26 is several revisions old, and the last update to the /e/Cloud iteration was over a year ago…I share the concern.
On the other hand, v26 has been extremely stable. There are a number of folks in /r/selfhosted who have had issues with Nextcloud going pear-shaped…and my /e/Cloud server just sits on the side, happily serving up cloudy services for my wife and I. Not-managing my /e/Cloud server is just wonderful =).
According to Manoj when I asked about it a few times over the course of the weekly update threads, the team is still sorting out the aftermath of October 7th, which has taken priority over the self-hosted iteration. Manoj also seemed to indicate that the plan is to leapfrog the self-hosted iteration’s version from v26 to…something more recent than the v28 than the cloudy version is running.
For what it’s worth, I’ve found the best balance to be using /e/Cloud for e-mail, calendar, contacts, and notes, then letting Immich handle photo syncing, Vaultwarden for passwords, KitchenOwl for shopping lists…effectively, expanding the number of replicated things through extending my docker-compose file, rather than Nextcloud plugins. If you’re looking to extend the functionality of /e/Cloud, I submit that this would be an effective way to do it.
Hey Joey, thanks for your reply. It’s good to know that selfhosted cloud is still alive I was considering Nextcloud AIO, but I’d rather stay with the /e/Cloud layout, although I would love to see /e/-like Icons for more apps such as Nextcloud Mail or Nextcloud Office.
Could you let me know how you extend your docker-compose file to ass functionality to your cloud?
I thought I had a topic on Immich integration; I’ll have to make one…but the LibreX procedure is a reasonably effective template for other applications, including Immich.
