When will next security patch be available? FP6+ device security is too new

Hello, i’m having the most difficult time trying to setup my new FairPhone 6+. I received it in the mail yesterday, and it came with the stock android version installed. The website advertises that FP6 uses E/OS, but it doesn’t say that “you” have to install it.

Luckily, there’s an automated installer Installer | /e/OS documentation , but it’s process is poorly laid out. The “physical” instruction manual that comes with the phone - that you read first because it has all the important warning messages and usage information - instructs the user to update to the latest security patches when first receiving and using the phone, so i did. Then I went to the /e/OS installer, but then it’s saying that my device’s security patch is too new (I’m guessing I shouldn’t have followed the physical instructions first). And in order to get past that, i need to “Wait” until the next security update patch is available.

Does anyone know when the next security patch will be available? If it’s more than a few weeks, i think i may just return the new phone.

I bought the FP6 so that i can both de-google and use replaceable parts, but their order-of-operations is wrong, and now it looks like i can’t use the phone.

Releases are always staggered, so the new version might take a few days to reach the /e/OS installer.

Since you didn’t want to install yourself anyway, really consider this. You can buy the phone preinstalled with /e/OS.

I don’t know where you bought it but at the fp website you can select de device with Google Android or /e/OS installed.

It costs a little extra to have the /e/OS version but it more than worth it.

Maybe you can send it back and switch it for an /e/OS version?

Fairphone website makes a very clear distinction between Google-Android version and /e/OS version that do come pre-installed with /e/OS.
On the other hand murena.com only sells the latter with pre-installed /e/OS…
