Where do I find the documents folder?

I am trying to move some files to the documents folder, so it will be synced to the cloud.

I can access this synced documents folder from the shortcut in the left pane in the file-browser.

but when I click on my files to move them, that convenient left hand pane is not available to select as a destination. And if I choose a folder “documents” at the root level of the phone, nothing happens. It’s been empty anyway, so obviously the “real” synced documents folder is somewhere else. But where? I can’t find it.

in Files, upper left sidebar items are aggregates by filetype (until the item that is your device) - it’s a database populated from the filesystem (and offered through 3 different APIs to Apps).

eDrive only looks at the filesystem and doesn’t use any of the APIs - so the empty rootlevel Documents/ folder really is the one that would get synced

thank you. Through your answer I’ve realized that on my phone the file-sync is probably generally not working… hmmmmm need to check that first! (stupid me…)

I thought that was resolved then for you at Problem with file sync after service-outage - #4 by xof.e ?

no, it’s still not working, apparently. Don’t really need it, so maybe I should just stop troubleshooting or reinstall nextcloud-app again…
