Where to ask? Problem with sending mails from murena.io Account

If I try to send (or try to forward) an e-mail from snappymail (on murena.io)
I get this failure message:

Sending mails with my murena.io account from my FP5 doesn’t work, too. Where should I ask, or can I do something for myself to fix this problem?
Receiving mails etc. works fine.
If this question is on a totally wrong place here, pls. apologize! I’m totally new to FP and murena at all… :grinning:

Thanks!

Let me check and get back to you.

Your account is not blocked. Pl check if you are using the settings as mentioned here on your mail client.

Thanks! Settings in my mailclient on my fairphone (the default K9 version from /e/OS) seem to be OK, mails hang in the outbox, the same error notification “not owned by user”.
K9 itself works fine, I can read my mails in my murena inbox etc., an with my other, own private mail account, everything (incl. sending) is fine.

Where can I check the settings within the original snappymail in murena.io dashboard?

In the Murena Dashboard, Click on email icon, this would open the snappy dashboard. Lower left side you should see a gear symbol which will open up the settings on your mail app.

Yes, I found this gear symbol before, but there are no settings available for mail servers etc. (or at least I didn’t find them… anywhere hardcoded in the murena dashbord version?)
I think, this all has some other reason, because it is the absolutely same problem with my K9 on my fairphone, with all settings OK…

Thanks!

You may need to create a gitlab issue to have the issue with your account checked. Mark the gitlab issue as confidential as the ID need not be displayed to all users.

Hello,

I’ve just received a few days ago my Fairphone 5 with /e/OS. I’m pretty happy with it up to now but am still struggling to set the built in Mail app.
I’ve created my murena account and with it got my new e-mail address “name @murena.io”.
I receive all my e-mails but can’t send anything, I get this error message when I try to send or reply to any received e-mails : “553 5.7.1 <name @murena.io>: Sender address rejected: not owned by user name @murena.io

I’ve already lookep up similar topics on this forum and on internet but can’t understand what went wrong. I’ve seen that the problem could come from multiple identities but in my case I only have one identity configured (name @murena.io) and it matches the e-mail address that is used to send e-mail. Or at least it seems to match…

If anybody has a solution to solve my problem that would be really great !

Thank you all in advance !

Hi @Laura123 I have moved your post under this thread as both issues seem to be the same. I checked your account as well. It is not blocked in the system.

@Laura123 @Matthias_MUC
I am sharing both the email IDs with the infra team and will get back with their response.
Pl note it being the weekend the response from the team may take a day or two.

@Laura123 while setting up the account did you set up the recovery address. Not setting up the recovery address can block the send.

@Matthias_MUC is this a new account. If yes then you also need to set up a recovery address.

I set a recovery address at the beginning and this address works (test mail is successfuly delivered, just now checked again).

OK now… the cue “recovery address” was good:
:person_facepalming:
What happens if you set a recovery address? Right, you get an email notification to THIS address, " Recovery Email Update in Your Murena Account"

OK, you see this mail, everything fine so far… not. If you had scrolled down just a little bit in this mail, you had had the chance to see a big button

**[Verify recovery email]**

(valid 30 minutes…)
 :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming:
If you set recovery mail address again and again, but never use this verify link, it won’t work. It’s that simple…

I hope this is the simple solution also for @Laura123

Thanks @Manoj and infra team!

Regards
Matthias

The recovery email address is important. Unless a user sets it when the account is created they would not be able to send email. Only receiving works. The idea was to give users a feel of the email service and also prevent spammers.
Have requested the team to add a prominent message mentioning that a working recovery email is important to use the email service with all its features.

and that it is mandatory to verify the recovery mail address (button in the mail that is sent to this address), otherwise, it would not work as supposed…

Hallo,
Got the same problem.
recovery email is set and tested.
Sending an email with identities is not possible. Error message as described above.
Are created identities checked for usability?
thanks for information

And you verified the recovery mail address by following the link button in the verification mail?
I just forgot/ignored this verification at first…

Hallo Matthias_MUC,
thanks for your information.

I have several times verified by following the link button.
I get
Sorry, this account confirmation link is no longer valid. Perhaps your account is already active?

The link ist only valid for 30 minutes. Maybe this was the problem?
Can you set this recovery mail address in your account again (no problem to use the same preferred address). Then you should receive again a new verification mail for the next try.
