If I was choosing a Smartwatch from a cold start I would first check wearables supported by Gadgetbridge, here is a page Wearables - Gadgetbridge. this approach avoids having to use the (proprietary ) app associated with most / all Smartwatches … it is the use of such app which tends to phone home all your data.
If you saw a device that might work for you, then you might double check it for user experience on the forum.
So, I got a CMF Watch 2…and it kinda works with /e/OS.
So, in researching for this comment, it looks like GadgetBridge has improved significantly with the CMF Watch Pro2, no longer requiring root or other drama to get it to work, so yay for progress!
Somewhat-bad news is that, at least in my experience, it’s inconsistent with notifications. Sometimes they show, sometimes they don’t…and I spent a few months with it, never quite getting 100% consistency. Everything else works reliably, and it’s possible they improved things on that front of late and I need to revisit it…and for $70 it’s not an extremely expensive cost for my inaccuracy…but that’s my experience, passed along.
Also worth noting is that AsteroidOS is the /e/OS of watches…I got one for the LG Watch and I wasn’t happy with it because it was particularly bad at dropping notifications…and battery life was atrocious…and it was pretty bad at detecting when I turned my wrist to see the time…so I don’t think I’d recommend that setup in particular, but it’s a good place to start if you want the /e/ philosophy on your wrist.
Thanks for pointing this out. I will try how it works with my Casio watch.
Thank you.

It’s pretty limited in function compared to others smart watches, but I use pinetime with gadgetbridge.
