probably because it let’s people use some Google Calendar features if they choose to. if you don’t do it, the calendar won’t magically connect to Google by itself.

A “degoogled” OS does not mean that users are prevented from using any google services: it means so such services are built-in. If people choose to use those services, that is their choice and their right

Indeed, de-googling means we still provide users an option to use Google services. It is for the user to decide if they want to use the service. Most of us still have friends or family members using Google calendars. /e/ users should get the option to pick and choose what they want.
