Wi‑Fi privacy leak — random MAC & device name not working

Device / Build

Model: alioth

Firmware: 3.6-a15-20260314594305-community-alioth

Problem

Wi‑Fi privacy broken: Randomized MAC does not rotate per connection (stays stable) and device name privacy is ineffective — the real device model is transmitted.

How to reproduce

Settings → Network & internet → Wi‑Fi → Advanced → MAC address type: choose Randomized MAC.

Set a custom device name or enable device-name privacy toggle.

Connect to a Wi‑Fi network, disconnect, and reconnect (or connect to different networks).

Observe same MAC across connections and the real model name visible to the AP (capture with tcpdump/wireshark on AP).

Severity

High — breaks core privacy protections for Wi‑Fi.

I mentioned the same thing Personal Info exposed

Murena as a company isn’t interested I guess in “security”.

I thought that issue on the FP6 to be closed - FP6 has no mac randomization / privacy wifi option (#8808) · Issues · e / Backlog · GitLab

at least one person confirmed for v3.3 for it to be working

as for the alioth of the OP @sensitivecathrin - you have to check if the driver of your device supports it. Might want to check if lineageos too
