Wifi issues, connection continually droppingfai

My phone is an FP 3+, not rooted running the latest eOS 4.21. Recently the TP-Link Archer VR2800 router died and I was having similar issues then but now worse since the purchase of an Asus AX82U modem/router. It connects then disconnects and reports the SSID is saved, but had no issues like this for the first two days. Also automatic connection when in range is not working. Any pointers gratefully received. I have used the same name as previous router and same password. Perhaps this is the issue?

guess it hiccups on some MIMO/wifi6 tricks the AX82 can do that the FP3 has no idea about and somehow it gets lost it can’t do them. Can you dial down the wifi standard in the AX82? go down to wifi - ac (“wifi 5”) and let’s see if the connection drops vanish

Thanks @tcecyk. The problem is the Router App is not as extensive as the web page method on a computer when it comes to wireless settings. The other issue is that wifi 6 is buried in a sentence next to the Enabled box next to radio settings! Reset the router, started a fresh and unlike first time when I tried to split between 2.4 and 5 GHz it did it second time around.
