Workspace, two questions

Hi all,

So, I have updated to /e/OS 3.3 and today I noticed there’s Workspace app on my phone. I understand it has something to do with Murena’s cloud service, but I have two questions:

  1. When I tap it, nothing happens. Is it expected or malfunctioning?
  2. Is it safe to remove it or will removing it cause problems? (like, for example, removing Bliss)

Thanks.

for me it open murena.io workspace without asking for password what I find a bit cavalier.
so i decided to hide it on the second page of an icon group…

(yes i have a registred murena account in → settings → accounts..)

In my case the authentication fails and then the app closes without telling me any reason. This is always great.

I guess you need a configured account for that (I mean a proper entry in the Accounts section among the Settings). I don’t have one anymore since I deleted it because of the uncontrollable background synchronization.

So, whenever I want to use this app to access my still existing cloud space, and I remember indeed some reasonable purposes, I can’t, because I have no chance to provide my password.

A much better idea than a workspace app would have been to put finally some developer resources into a more detailed interface for the still brainless (!) synchronization. The ability to separate music and video files absolutely nobody needs in the cloud from simple camera pictures many people want to have there is nothing else than a must-have. Also the initial off-state so that the user still can decide what he wants to be synchronized before (!) he gets the notification that the cloud space is full (which means then also that he wasted a GB of network traffic for nothing and he must now clean up all the unwanted crap) – opti-in as default instead of opt-out. I said this already three years ago. Note: this would also be a valuable and frustration-reducing tool to manage the contents of the cloud space.

I tapped on it and nothing happened; I uninstalled it and everything is ok so far.

Looks like the same behaviour as on my device, thanks for confirming.

Do you have a cloud account in the Accounts? And do you have a working background synchronization?

Nope, I’m not big on using cloud services, I’ve just deleted the app now.

On my FP5 (official) the app opened and I got a login screen, so it seems to work. But because I don’t use it, I uninstalled it. Phone’s working fine.
