Thanks! I will try it when my xiaomi allows me to unlock the bootloader in a week.

What does unofficial rom mean?

Different Build Types

Unofficial

Builds are made by /e/OS or external users
Builds are not supported by /e/OS
Made using /e/OS sources code with no modifications in any form
At times may not have a maintainer as in made by a user who does not own the device
Do not receive OTA updates
Available for download on /e/OS websites and are tagged as “UNOFFICIAL”
Release Frequency: Monthly or biMonthly
Build Naming format: e-0.7-n-2020021341116-UNOFFICIAL-mata.zip
Install these builds at your own risk

@BluePanda
My advice: First install this tested OFFICIAL CustomROM Infinity-X-1.7-lime-20241202-1420-VANILLA-OFFICIAL, then the untested e-2.7-u-20250130-UNOFFICIAL-citrus -lime

Oh, I see, thanks for the clarification!

May I ask why it is a good idea to start with the ROM you recommended? I want to try /e/os mainly because I want an android with the least presence of google. I wanted to try LineageOS but it doesn’t support my device, I read on a forum that /e/os is even better for what I need, so I wanted to give it a try.

I would also suggest you what @Xxpsilon said. First install an custom ROM which is confirmed working and then dirty flash the /e/OS version which is currently untested

@BluePanda
I’ve had very good practical experience with OFFICIAL Infinity-X VANILLA CustomROMs, for example with Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro (raphael), Poco X3 NFC, Remdi Note 8 Pro (begonia) and Redmi Note 8T (gingko-willow). The CustomROMs tested work perfectly.

The VANILLA versions are without Google Mobile Services, without OGApps & Co. and are a very good starting point for further actions. If, e. g. /e/OS-U 2.7 e-2.7-u-20250130-UNOFFICIAL-lime does not boot and the system is stuck, it is usually easier to return to Infinity-X (A14) without having to do a possible repair with Xiaomi stock firmware.

Use the time during the Xiaomi forced waiting period of 168 hours to unlock this bootloader and do some research on the WWW and always be aware: changing the operating system is a massive system intervention and not without risks. When /e/OS-U 2.7 e-2.7-u-20250130-UNOFFICIAL-lime is running, the joy is all the greater because Google’s and Xiaomi’s data thieves have been removed.

Ok, it’s the first time I flash an OS, I’ve only done it with root before. I will investigate well how to do it because the last thing I want is to end up with a brick.

I will follow your advice and let you know if everything goes smoothly.

Well, the “lime” rooting is not necessary, and - as a beginner - I wouldn’t do that either!

The installation of Infinity-X / /e/OS-U 2.7 is simple and comparable Redmi Note 10 Pro

Unzip file Project_Infinity-X-1.7-lime-20241202-1420-VANILLA-OFFICIAL.zip
Included in *.zip is file recovery.img

  1. Make sure your computer has adb and fastboot
  2. adb devices
  3. adb -d reboot bootloader
  4. fastboot devices
  5. fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
  6. Now reboot into recovery to verify the installation - IMPORTANT!
  7. Now tap Factory Reset, then Format data / factory reset and continue with the formatting process. This will remove encryption and delete all files stored in the internal storage.
  8. Return to the main menu - but do not reboot into system
  9. On the device, select Apply Update, then Apply from ADB to begin sideload.
  10. adb -d sideload Project_Infinity-X-1.7-lime-20241202-1420-VANILLA-OFFICIAL.zip

OR (respectively)

  1. adb -d sideload e-2.7-u-20250130-UNOFFICIAL-lime.zip by @ronnz98

  2. Reboot into system

Done!

Infinity-X flashing went great, although I think I messed it up a bit with the dirty /e/OS flashing. I flashed it without formatting any data, when I entered the system it wouldn’t boot because it said the data might be corrupted, it asked me to format the data and after that I booted /e/OS normally.

Can I have any problem for having done it this way? Or is it something expected?

I will give you updates of how is my performance with this ROM, currently everything seems to work fine.
