As I was reading the Murena’s terms of use I discovered that the voice to text feature introduced with e/OS/ 3.0 is using the Open AI API. That means our voice is sent to Open AI so they can translate it to text. Murena is anonymising the data but I think it is still someting we should know. Thanks for posting this. I was not aware of this nifty little thing they implemented. I’m not using e/OS atm, since my phone broke down and I’m waiting for my current phone to be compatible. My jaw dropped when reading other topics about this.

Were there many people aware of this feature? Why can’t we remove it without ABD? Nice that it’s “opt-in”, but why can’t I find it int he Apps? What will Murena (silently) implement more in the future hat breaches privacy? I really don’t care that it is anonymized. (Voice to Text feature using Open AI - #10 by GaelDuval)

I’m really struggling atm. Do I want to use e/OS in the future or should I switch to GrapheneOS whenever I can? I did not expect this from Murena and wonder if it’s still save to use. May I also mention that there are /e/OS users who ask to be able to use Android Auto and even though it is not perfectly sandboxed by Murena (as far as I know) but they did as much they could, users still use it. Even though it is a privacy risk people want some features. Everyone can choose them selves how they use their OS.

Not sure if I should thank you for digging this up again (everyone can use the search function and check what Voice to Text is, I mean thoose premium users out there).
