Android 14 for Fairphone 5?

Greetings
According to Smartphone Selector, Fairphone 5 is officially supported with Android 14, but the /e/OS updates I get (3.0.4) are built for Android 13.
Why this mismatch?
Thanks

Only available on official builds is an OTA Android version upgrade. We see from Development Updates this is not yet on the horizon for FP5.

In order to upgrade community builds would require fresh install including Format data. It is possible to upgrade official in the same way.

Thanks for the very quick reply!
So, if I understand correctly, I have to do a fresh install to upgrade to Android 14 or 15, right?

Anyway to upgrade to “official” by paying a subscription? I’d love to support Murena financially,
even though I didn’t buy my phone through Murena.

If your top priority was highest Android version you would upgrade as you understood correctly. On the install page it is a simple to run script which includes Format data.

Murena do not offer a paid for install process there is a guy in Reading UK offers a service mentioned :mag: the forum I think.

Would such an upgrade erase my applications, data and settings? That’s not the same effort if I have to start from scratch again
Thanks again for your help!

Yes Format data is as Factory reset means everything belonging to you.

You might experiment with Settings > System > Backup.

Take care that not all apps are backed up. This will be detailed as you run the setup but be sure to take notes as a reminder. Messages app has its own backup within the app settings.

:iphone: Fairphone 5 is now available on AOSP 14 for fresh installation! :tada: OTA upgrade to AOSP 14 coming soon! :drum:

I did have A13 community and if I remember correctly, I did do an upgrade from A13 community to A14 official. But I didn’t do OTA. AFAIK it was sideload or something.
This is my post , back then when I did the upgrade.

You can support Murena via the /e/ Foundation: Donate - e Foundation - deGoogled unGoogled smartphone operating systems and online services - your data is your data

Or simply buy a cloud subscription. Recurring payments are always the most sustainable way to support such projects:
