Android 14 smartphone

Good evening
Which Android 14 phone is supported by Murena?
Thank you
Sebastien

None … officially … yet

I suggest you watch

Do you mean:

  • Which phones (of any OEM) can run an Android 14 build of /e/OS?
    -or-
  • Which phones that Murena sells are running (or are upgradable to) an Android 14 build of /e/OS?
    -or-
  • Which recent phones (of any OEM) that were produced with Android 14 installed (or had an upgrade path to Android 14) have an /e/OS build?
    -or-
  • Something else?

Hello
Thank you for the explanation.
I want to buy the Realme GT 6T to install Murena.
So this is possible?
Thank you for the confirmation.
Have a good day
Sébastien

The list of currently supported devices is at this link along with information on which version of eOS can be installed. U=Android 14, T=Android 13, S=Android 12, R=Android 11. As you can see, and as mentioned in @aibd’s reply above, there aren’t any Android 14 supported devices yet, as eOS U (Android 14) is currently in development.

Looking trough all supported phone I saw there was only 1 Realme phone. I don’t think Murena will support other Realme phones.
Even Lineage doesn’t support your model so I’d say 0% chances for a /e/ OS build.

Hello.
Thank you for the information.
What phone do you advise?
I hesitate with the Pixel8, because opinions are mixed.
Thank you very much
Sébastien

What is important to you?

I want a durable phone without Os Google
a similar configuration to the Pixel 8 but with a better battery and a newer processor
(Xiaomi14 or other) within 550 €
The most important thing is to be able to delete the Google layer and install Murena e/Os

Thank you very much

Hi @Seb60 Seb60
/e/OS is a custom ROM (based on LineageOS). /e/OS is not available for any phone on the market and typically, if a version of it appears for a phone, there is a certain delay until it appears. That’s why /e/ is rarely available for brand new phones.
From my observation /e/OS is pretty quickly available for Google phones. I know it is a bit weird to purchase a Google phone if you actually want to leave Google…

I expect /e/OS to appear for the Pixel 8 series as soon as the next /e/OS iteration based on Android 14 comes out.
If you look for a recent phone this could be a good choice.

In general you could take the LineageOS device list as a good indicator (although not a promise) what devices are likely to appear with /e/OS as well.

And a certain advice: ‘newer phones = faster processor’ is an equation that is not always true. The Antutu score is one of the indicators to help understanding how ‘fast’ a phone and its processor are. On https://www.kimovil.com you can check the Antutu score for many phones. Top notch phones have an Antutu rating around 2.000.000. Many new phones are far away from that score, but I think it does not matter so much unless you need the phone for games. I personally use a Pixel 6a (you can still get it new for 250€), a decent fast phone, I do not encounter lags at all, I have 1.5 days of battery autonomy and - overall - I am pretty happy with it (although the Antutu score is ‘only’ at 800.000). Interesting to see that Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 series are more recent phones, their Antutu score is not necessarily much higher.

I hope that helps you to find a phone that suits.

The question of all questions, which phone can be purchased as new for STABLE /e/OS-U to be installed?

Best bet would be the Pixel 8, though Pixel 8a probably would make more sense because of the extended OEM support till May 2031 (compared to October 2030 for the Pixel 8).

If you want to buy a phone to install /e/OS on it, it’s because you care about privacy. It’s time to change for an ethic mobile phone too. Best options are Fairphone 5 or Fairphone 4.
