APN settings keep being deselected

Hello,

I have a Fairphone 6 with the latest version of the e/os. I am currently in South Korea and using a local SIM card (with SKT). I keep having issues with being unable to use the Internet when using data. It goes like this: I put data on, it doesn’t work (it says 4G is on, but the network symbol has an exclaimation mark). I go to the settings and manually select the appropriate APN as none is selected, it works. I turn it off and if I try turning it on again after more than a couple of minutes, it has deselected the APN setting (so that NONE are selected) and I have to start from scratch. Data works, but having to go and select it every time is annoying.

We had gone to a SKT shop and they had managed to get the data to work, but next time I tried, this happened. Any clue if it’s something I need to do somewhere else, a problem with SKT, or a bug on the e/os side that needs fixing?

Thank you for your help.

First thing to try.

Be sure to be connected to reliable Wi-Fi.
Top right 3 dot menu on the Settings > APN page > Tap Restore to default.

Power down the phone and then restart while connected to Wi-Fi. Then try to reconnect to mobile data.

Can you find SKT published APN. Check that the APN is an exact match with your plan, both within the detailed APN data and also in the

“Plan name” which you select :radio_button:

One can try to Edit and Save any incorrect APN data. If it fails to Save it is sometimes necessary to use the + Add button top right to copy out the complete APN page. Be sure to return and Select :radio_button: the new page.

(The APN could possibly have been updated in some small way by the carrier and the AOSP “presets” not updated. This could be corrected as Wrong APN settings Telia Norway)

I have tried all of this and nothing has worked. Part of the issue seems to be that they might want a MMC/MNC and I cannot add that because those are not fields that exist on the Fairphone.

Everything else in the SKT APN is the same and when I tried to create a new APN with everything, except the MMC/MNC, the same issue shows up.

This is to be expected. Since ~early 2026 users are no longer required to enter values for MCC and MNC as part of APN settings within AOSP. So that itself is not the problem.

Hi, I have a Fairphone 6 as well, and when you open the APN settings of your Sim card, there are MMS settings (Mine is Norwegian, but shouldn’t be different, as Fairphone is Fairphone):

Most likely you find all the settings on your providers homepage or call their custom service and they send them to you) - surely they want you to have the rights settings, because they want you to use data..
