The development team is working on resolving the issue
This is not related to the outage.
The part where you can use a Google account to access apps is working. You can check this guide for details
For now we do not have an ETA for the resolution
We will update once the fix is in place for the anonymous mode part of App Lounge.
[Updated Nov 14 18:00 CET]
We are going to reintroduce the service progressively over the next days, starting with /e/OS Official users on latest versions numbers
Next week we will push an App Lounge update (for /e/OS > 2.3 users) that will significantly help solve this issue on the long run
[Update Nov 18]
AppLounge anonymous mode has been reopened for all users with only one restriction, the current AppLounge version should be >= 2.10.1.
While we will release the new code with v2.6( ETA end of November or early December) you can also update App Lounge in these 4 ways:
[/e/OS >= 2.3] from AppLounge update tab. It only works with a valid Google token.
[/e/OS >= 2.3] clear app cache, login into app lounge with PWA and open source apps only (you can do this from App Lounge>> settings>> Show application), new App Lounge version will be listed from update tab. Once installed, user can reuse anonymous token mode.
[/e/OS < 2.3] install app lounge manually by following our documentation (App Lounge ).
Wait next /e/OS update 2.6 ( ETA end of November or early December) .

Google doesn’t allow to make Gmail accounts without a telephone number, or atleast not in my region or on my device.I can’t use my own number as it indicates that number has already been used “too many times”. There’s no option without using a phone number.
I can confirm. In my country, the Netherlands, you also need an telephone number to create an Google account. In Holland you can (still) buy prepaid sim cards for about 5 euro.
There is a workaround, I successfully tried yesterday: create the new account within an (any) existing gmail app, chose “google”, “private” then there is a selection “skip” in the window asking for phone number.
credits go to (German, with images) Google-Konto ohne Telefonnummer erstellen & bestätigen (in 2024)
Thanks for your reply. Anonymous login was working for me last week on my FP3 v2.5-official, and as well on the next eOS, v2.6-official. But as it seems a normal upgrade, I will do it anyway

For me the update didn’t change anything. During update through App Lounge it looked like a crashing, not sure if this is ok or really a problem.
Version is now 2.10.1. When using anonymous mode I still get nagged with popups claiming account is unavailable. I did clear cache and logged out and in multiple tries.
Samsung Tab S5e with /e/OS 2.5-t-community
I’ll wait for the 2.6 and hope it gets fixed this way.
Hi, I also have those messages about account being unavailable, however if I choose “Ignore” then Parameters > Disconnect and reconnect in anonymous mode again, it works…
Not so easy to use but usable !
I’m still on v2.4.1 but have been offered and have updated App Lounge on my FP3+. Great to see this being rolled out after the recent issue with anonymous accounts.
It seems to be working fine, although two issues noted:
Despite setting App Lounge to show common apps only, it continues to offer me updates for open source apps (currently for Aurorastore). This is a longstanding issue that has been reported a number of times.
It does not show updates for paid-for apps when using an anonymous account. I understand that paid-for apps cannot be updated while using an anonymous account, but see that Aurorastore does show the available update when in anonymous mode.
The risk here is that an anonymous account user of App Lounge who has installed a paid-for app by temporarily using a Google account will never be alerted to the fact that that paid-for app is out if date and take the appropriate action to update it.
So, on /e/OS 2.5 U, App Lounge 2.9. Update doesn’t show up when using the PWA method in App Lounge. Tried both APKs from Gitlab (official and community); both say “app not installed as package conflicts with an existing package”.
