The auto brightness is al over the place. Then its to bright then its to dark. Its unusable.
Is there a fix for this?

Try this:
I will try it later again but seems not to work
Does not work. Yesterday I was outside went to a seat in the shadow and the phone went to the lowest brightness. I could not see anything anymore on the screen.
Am I the only one with this problem?
Adaptive perhaps does not cope with extremes in my experience. I did try that Sunpower method once but it did not fix for me.
Perhaps this will help Adaptive Brightness: Everything you need to know - Android Authority
Now midsummer I go to a well lit room out of direct sunlight and set brightness to about 80% out of Adaptive.
Such that turning on adaptive does not cause the setting to jump (I might come back and do it again next day in case Adaptive “learned something”) – micro adjustment only to get no jump in good conditions.
Certainly I will have to turn off Adaptive and manual adjust for midday sun or uncomfortably low light. Edit perhaps I have been doing it wrong when I turn off adaptive when I cannot read the screen … testing in more moderate conditions perhaps leave adaptive on and adjust for extremes will help adaptive to " learn" the extremes as well.
But that said Adaptive works over 95% of the time when I don`t use impossible situations.
Similar problem on FP5 when in a dark room; as you scroll through something on the screen the brightness goes up (reflection from my face, I presume) and then up some more until it’s at max. That’s when it’s not constantly going up and down.
Similar issue with my FP6. Sometimes screen brights in dark and sometimes it is really dark in sun light.
