For the last 5 months my banking app does not work because it requires that the default browser on the phone to be Chrome.
My default browser is Brave.
I do not see why I should be forced to use Chrome to get my banking app to work.
I have already contacted my bank and complained that their app should work with any browser. I do not expect my bank will change their app because of my complaint.
I consider my banking app to be an essential app on my phone.
What is the solution to this problem ?
Is /e/os going to develop a workaround ?
Is it possible to run the banking app in a sandbox on /e/os ?
Ive heard that Louis Rossman could not buy tickets for Swiss railways because their app also requires Chrome.
I can login to my bank with the app or using the stock eOS browser. Have you tried using the browser to see what happens?
I always thought the app(s) were browser independent.
Edit: You are trying to open you bank app in the browser it sounds like. Do they not offer their own app? I donāt understand if the issue is an app or just in browser?
The other solution would be to contact the European commission and your member of parliament at EU to make them (more)aware of the importance to enforce open standards on:
app stores
push notification protocol
(any situation where a monopoly-standard naturally appears, second-hand adds, films, musics, etc)
As a consequence, private companies will realize that it is important commercially not to close their app on any system for wrongly assumed security justifications.
Thanks to everyone that responded to my issue. Any time I reply, Iām told I have to wait 50 minutes before sending another reply. Very annoying. Iāll try and respond individually.
You can normally reply to multiple comments within your composing box.
Just quote a piece of text from the one, type your reply, and then with your composing box still open, scroll up to find the next comment you want to reply to.
When youāve replied to everybody you want to reply to, hit the āReplyā button to post it.
It is the very first time I can hear anything like that and have been in banking for 35 years.
Isnāt there any confusion taking place - the app does not use browser - maybe we are talking about login into āfullā OLB not the app version? I cannot grasp it where the browser comes into the equasion if we are talking the APP!? If you use email app for example you do not log into email on a browser, the same happens with banking - itās either or⦠Maybe there is some miscommunication or misunderstanding? I just wonder.
