Cannot change default Messages (text app) notification settings to silent

I’m having the exact same problem this person is with the same phone, FairPhone4, but I am running /e/os 3.1.4 (android 14) official release for FP4. No answer was given which is a total bummer, because there are some texting conversations I truly want to mute. Changing text notification settings

So it seems to me that the default SMS app Message offers the same notification for all incoming SMS.

Are you happy to have all SMS send the same notification? This we can change within Message app, from
“Notification
tap to customise”.
Note It is possible that default is set to “no sound”.

We are wondering how to selectively mute some, but still receive notification for others.

As I said at the top of my answer, I think the default app will not do this, you would need to search for an app with this functionality, I think.
