As title. With the default email client on Fairphone 6 e/os it is impossible to delete email accounts. You can choose to remove the account and it will tell you it has removed it but it immediately comes back. This applies to a gmail account and the murena account.
For clarity, email accounts are added to the device through Settings > Accounts. We see Remove account there. I believe the default email client is not involved.

I think a fix for this behaviour landed but isn’t shipped yet:
the mail app is in a stopped state when an account is removed via system settings, it does not receive the event. This causes a desynchronized state where the app continues to display data for an account that no longer exists.
This fix reintroduces explicit broadcasts for account lifecycle events
