This annoys me so much and reason why I don’t use OnlyOffice on the Murena Cloud on a browser. When I click on document or spreadsheet, it opens a file, but it’s always named untitled.* but yet I cannot change the file. Problem is I end up with many files untitled. This is so f* annoying.
I would have to go to save location. Click on the file and rename it.
PLEASE make this easier. I wanna edit file name just in the file itself…
In the list of documents, select the document you wish to rename then hit the 3 vertical dots to the right and a drop down menue appears rename is the third option down. I hope this answers your frustation.

Yeah, I already know that. But I wanna change file name, while editing the file. Cause otherwise I have bunch of “untitled.docx” and have to figure out, which oen is the latest.
it’s good feedback. By your account age it could be worth it to register a gitlab account (write the Email to be registered per DM to Manoj) and file this, at some point it will see attention. There’s no similar issue yet.
Agreed. I ended up here after searching how to change the file name (or at least Save as) from within the file.
I don’t have a paid Murena account (so not much storage space), but I do use Murena sometimes for browser-based spreadsheets, which Proton does not have.
IMO we should not have to go back to the file list to rename a file. Then I have to figure out which of the untitled.xls documents it is.
File > Save Copy as does not let me change the username. (Also – side note – although the text on the Save button says “Choose keywords,” it does appear to save the file.)
File > Open file location is a little easier, but I still need to figure out which file it is, and if I want to save it in a different location, I have to do it there rather than within the file itself. And then need to re-open the file.
I guess I was spoiled by google docs and the ability to name (and re-name) the file right there inside it.
I tried to create an account on gitlab to report this, but it did not like my aliased email address.
forum is like a debate chamber. If you want to put it into law → ask Manoj via DM to get an account
OnlyOffice has public issue trackers, but not sure if this up to OO here or nextcloud. Murena implementation issues shouldn’t be posted there. It’s a valid wish though that causes confusion before.
@abdulrahimhelmand - I agree, it’s really strange because in OnlyOffice there is an option to rename the file from within the editor - see File menu in first image here:
I’m pretty sure that I have also found a place, where it was stated that you can change the file name by just clicking and editing the file name in the top of the editor - just like in Google Docs.
But for some reason those options are missing in Murena’s version of OnlyOffice.
I can only speculate, but maybe it’s related to the use of NextCloud instead of OnlyOffice’s own Docspace
Ahh - thanks @aibd - I wasn’t aware of that - makes sense.
And then again, it seems like a pretty basic functionality, so I would be a little surprised, if it was included only in the latest versions of OnlyOffice .
I think not, functionality is fine if you Save As to Hard drive (as said in your quoted support page), but it will not work “on the fly” to cloud (if this is what Google does).
True @aibd, but I find it awkward that each time you click on the document icon
you get yet another file called untitled (xx).docx. As you suggest you can then Save Copy as, but that does exactly what it states - it makes a copy, which means that you will still have the original document saved as untitled (xx).docx.
Of course, you can make it a regular habit of going into your documents folder and delete all files called something with untitled, but why fill up the folder with all those unnecessary files in the first place? From a user perspective it seems like a very cumbersome solution to something that ought to be trivial.
