Can't delete default Mail app, or permanently remove default account

A little quirk I have observed in the default Mail app.
I have installed K9 mail and want to use K9 mail exclusively.

I tried to uninstall Mail but that failed.

So I deleted all the accounts in Mail, but some time later the /e/ account has reappeared with its default settings, which I find very surprising.

So, the workaround I have found is to set all sync options for the /e/ account

• General settings>Network>Background sync: “Never”
  Account settings:
• Folder poll frequency:Never
• Poll folders: None
• Push folders:None

You can uninstall pre-installed Apps. Whether “easily” applies is subjective. It’s enough to switch the background synchronization off in the stock mail app. It’s completely dead then. But it remains full working when you need it.
