Changing back from e/OS to LineageOS?

I installed e/OS on a Samsung Galaxy S8 via Quick installer and it worked great. The only one thing is that the fingerprint sensor does not work. OK…it works, but after several tries the system always interrups and so it is not possible to create a valid finger print…
Question: is the change from e/OS to LineageOS the same as the step from Samsung to e/OS? Is there guide for that?

Just boot to recovery
and install another android-distribution
by “factory-reset” and “apply update”

I think I have seen it reported that creating the fingerprint requires quite a short press on the sensor, just a thought … I don’t have such sensor.
