Curve Pay does not seem to work at all on 3.5. it gets as far as the “Securing your information” step but when I go to set it as my preferred wallet, but fails with the following message;
Hello PoboEscobar, this won’t help you much, but Curve Pay works perfectly on my FP6 with /e/os 3.5. So there’s some hope that it will work for you too one day.
Thanks Softer, it is reassuring to know that it works on the FP6! It could very well work in a subsequent update, but I felt I should share it here given Curve Pay is mentioned by Gael as being the working option for Contactless payments on /e/os. I know from my own searching of the topic, several month old unresolved threads only leave me more unsure about whether it started working in the meantime!
I’ve installed it through both the App Lounge and Aurora store, making sure to delete the local cache and storage doing so, to no avail. Also, my device is relocked.
I’ve signed in with my google account as well and have installed it then, but it still has the same issue unfortunately.
I’ll give those articles a read see if they help, thanks.
I installed Curve Pay from Applounge.
When I use ‘Play Integrity API Checker’ app I get ‘MEETS_BASIC_INTEGRITY’.
Sorry, I don’t know what ‘is the phone relocked?’ means. I can only say that my phone is not rooted.
thanks for confirming. If Playintegrity is the reason an App bails, it explains the difference between two users on the same phone and version, having different outcomes.
I had used Curve Pay with no problems for months, apart from the fact that the app was draining battery in the background even with background usage restricted and even in airplane mode. Saw online a few people had the same issue and resolved it by uninstalling then reinstalling. I tried that, and once reinstalled, I ran in the same issue as many of you: stuck on the last step of activating tap-to-pay, app not even showing up under NFC settings. Very annoyed to see many people with the same problem (that I didn’t use to have!!!) and no solution.
Here’s what worked for me and I hope it does for you too: there is a separate setting to select a default payment app. Settings > Apps > Default apps > Wallet app. Curve Pay was available to select there, I selected it and tried activation again and this time it worked! haven’t had a chance to try the tap-to-pay since, but I will update when I do.
Curve does need a Google account or any of the Play Integrity checks to work. I have FP4 currently on 3.7.1 which has never had a Google account linked and consequently all Play Integrity checks fail. Curve Pay works flawlessly. I cannot remember on which /e/ OS version I was on when I set it up.
I also had a problem with Curve Pay. One thing I noticed was, that in the “default wallet app” menu in Settings, Curve wasn’t showing up as an option. On iodéOS it was showing and it worked. It was, however, some time ago. I can’t tell how is it now, I’m not using either ATM.
