I would really like to see an option where I can set the default connection option (when I plug-in my device via USB) to be “file transfer” instead of “no data transfer”. Having to unlock the phone, then go into the settings, then enable file transfers manually - every time I connect my device to my PC - is a supreme nuisance. 
I should be able to somehow trust specific devices and avoid the run around.
In a15 I still find Default USB configuration in Developer options.

Well… guess I went through those too fast! How embarrassing. Thank you kindly for schooling me! 
So this will set it for all USB connections, but not just my PC correct?

Don’t be embarrassed I’ve programming eOS phone for a few years now and I forgot to check if the bootloader was locked and wondered why the eOS update would not take LOL. It happens…

I suppose so. I’m going to blame it on holiday overload! 
I guess only part of my suggestion stands then.
It will just be the default; other USB Preferences can be set later … but always a USB cable must be attached when altering USB Preferences.
