Default Mail App Not Pushing Changes

Hi there,

I fixed this once before but don’t remember how. I’m using Murena email within the default Mail app on e/OS.

For some reason, when I move or delete emails within the default Mail client, if I close and reopen the app the changes I just made are not saved. I sometimes delete emails multiple times which is frustrating and annoying.

I cleared the app cache and data to start fresh and same issue.

To test, I downloaded Thunderbird and have had zero issues there. Ideally, I don’t want to have two separate mail apps that are almost identical.

Any thoughts as to why the default Mail app isnt pushing changes? I tried fiddling with the “Feting Mail” settings but no dice thus far. Open to suggestions!

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

Use Thunderbird. It’s base on K9 and K9 joined Thunderbird few years ago. Murena Mail is a fork of K9.

Murena just propose fork of apps. Just use the original

this reads like a bug. Weird not more reports show up at either /e/OS Mail or service-type:mail.

You didn’t set the account up as POP3 (you’d need to go out your way to do so, but k9 will let you do it) ?

A workround should be: after deletion, refresh the inbox once more, than imap things should happen (as in deletions).

For reasons I don’t understand, the following steps got the default Mail app functioning as expected;

  1. Disable Murena account sync for mail
Settings (app) > Accounts > Murena > Account sync > uncheck mail

  2. Remove existing Murena account from Mail

Mail (app) > Settings > Accounts > Murena > Ellipsis icon > Remove account

  1. Export existing settings from Thunderbird to file

Thunderbird (app) > Settings > Export settings > Export

  1. Import settings into Mail using file instead of adding account manually

(Here I followed the prompts but don’t remember my exact steps. I input the passwords for each account when prompted.)

I am pleased to report the Mail app is now working good as new.!If I had to guess, I’d say whatever protocol Murena is using to create the account within Mail might have something amiss or is outdated. Perviously removing the Murena account then re-adding manually within Mail still caused it to crash regularly. I’m unclear what’s in the Thunderbird export file that makes it play nice with Mail all the sudden but hey this workaround exists for the time being!

(glad you found a workaround) - just for the record, on what version did you experience that weird deletions/changes-are-not-backsynced issue?

I think the current version. But I’m not positive:

version 6.711-2
foundation.e.mail

I updated the OS on 07/08 so the problem was present on whichever build I was on previously.
