Fitbit app is running fine on my Pixel 7 Pro running 2.6.3-u. If I remember correctly, it was not working on the same phone with 2.5.x-t. I had no issue also on a F(x)tec Pro¹, running 2.x.x-t.
I don’t know if it has any importance, but I have not migrated my Fitbit account to a Google account.
Also when adding a new Fitbit watch, I couldn’t activate the 6 months free Premium, as it works with Google and I don’t have a account there.

I am the original poster in the referenced discussion.
Unfortunately, I think it does matter that you are using your original Fitbit account and not a google account.
Is there any chance you can test with a google account?
I unfortunately don’t have an original Fitbit account, could only use a google account.
I have two other applications which complain about Google play services not being up-to-date, namely ChatGPT and Wise.
Fitbit cannot tell what its problem is.
I have 2.6.3 official s (android 12) running on Teracube2e zirconia.
If you look at the referenced thread, somebody said that Fitbit is running for him/her with a google account (?) with the then-current microG in another one of these custom ROMs. This seems to indicate that the problem is in /e/.
