I have the same problem, but on Ubuntu 20.04. I get stuck at the same place, I am using a data cable, but it seems the easy installer will search for my phone indefinitely:/

I have the same problem. Did you manage to solve it?

I did but… I can’t remember how, exactly. :frowning: It was something about the USB protocol, an option was called quite different from the screenshot and I hadn’t found it at first…? I think that way I missed a step.
Sorry to not be of more help

This topic here was about problems on a Windows computer, if you’re running into problems using Linux I think it’s best to create a separate topic.
And be sure to include the log file (or post it at https://paste.c-net.org/ and include the link in the new topic).

Thank you for your recommendation. A new topic is not necessary in my case. I’m indeed using windows.

Thank you very much for your answer. It’s reassuring to know there’s a fix.

I have the same problem, it just searches endlessly for my device. Does anyone know if it has to do with what the easy installer calls the “Android debugging”, (and asks me to tap on), because I never found it, so it might be the problem…
Has anyone found a solution ?

Just to make 100% sure that “I have the same problem” is indeed the same problem

  • your computer runs Windows 10?
  • the installer does not detect that you have a Fairphone (as opposed to having detected the FP3 but then being unable to do the actual installation)?

Helpful in any case would be to upload the logs of the installer.
You can find the log(s) depending on your operating system in different locations, see Howto troubleshoot issues with the easy-installer

The log might be too large to upload it to the forum directly. In that case you can try one of the the various pastebin services, like https://pastebin.com/, https://paste.c-net.org/, https://paste.ubuntu.com/

Thank you for your answer ! Sorry, I’m a bit new to all of this. Actually, my computer was running on Windows 8, so, not exactly the same problem.
But I tried on another computer (also on Windows 8), and for some reason it worked…

try to activate the USB debugging on your phone

Hello,
a few month after I bought my FP3+, I still can’t install eos on it. If someone has an idea of how to solve this issue that would be amazing.
The problem: The easy installer stay stuck on the “searching for your device” step.
for information:

  • I followed without problem the instructions displayed by easy installer
  • I’m using windows 10
  • I am using a data cable
  • I tried on another computer (windows 10)
  • the usb debbugging mode isn’ changing anything (and my computer is not able to recognized the phone when it’s on)

Can you provide the log file as described above in

The log file you provided: was that when the phone was in USB debugging mode?
The fact that the phone is not “recognized” in USB debugging mode as far as I know is not a problem if you mean that it’s not visible in the file explorer.

When the FP3 is in USB debugging mode and the installer is running you should see a dialog that ask for permissions to connect. Did that appear?

No it was not.

I don’t see any dialog.

Thanks again for your help!

I don’t know why, but I can’t poste a link anymore. Here the log with the debug using haste: uhazujaraw

That new log doesn’t look any different.

It basically contains the same lines like the original poster had.
Have you checked the first reply which links to FP3+ no USB conection via fastboot, unlocking bootloader not possible

Right now I can imagine 3 reasons why the log looks the way it does

  • it’s not a data cable
  • the phone is not in USB debugging mode
  • windows lacks some driver to use USB debugging mode

The latter might be helped with above link.

So, the problem is finally fixed. I had to install updated drivers after removing the old ones - the fairphone being originally identified as another kind of phone (don’t remember the brand)…
Again, thank you very much for your time and help! Thanks to you I can now enjoy my /e/os phone.
