Email a contact group in Murena cloud

In Murena cloud I have defined a contact group with 5 members in the Contacts app. My purpose is to use the name of that contact group as an alias for the 5 email addresses when sending an email. So instead of writing all 5 email addresses, I expect that I can just use the name of the contact group.

However, that does not work. The Mail app does not recognize the name of the contact group.

Okay, then I go back into the Contact app, click on the 3 dots next to the name of the contact group and select Send email. As I’m logged into Murena cloud I would expect the Contacts app to open the Murena Mail app to send the email. But no. Instead, it asks me which app on my laptop I would like to use for the ‘mailto’ link.

So now I ask: How do I send an email to a contact group in Murena cloud?

This topic is exactly the same as @ronbillock posted in 2023 here: Sending email to a group in contacts on Murena Cloud

However, he didn’t get any answer back then, so the question is still open.

Any hint?

For clarification; is this a free Murena account? This :magnifying_glass_tilted_left: search demonstrates that a free account cannot handle multiple cc.

Lars, I concur with your findings. I somewhat resolved this issue by downloading a different Contacts App that handles groups. It is not a seemless solution but you may want to try it out. Simplemobiletools.com

It would be nice if the native contacts would handle groups as one would expect but since I queried back in 2023 and still it doesn;t work that way I would not hold my breath. Good luck!

Thanks @aibd - it’s true that my Murena account is free at the moment, but that won’t last for long. I will start a paid subscription shortly.
But I must admit that I don’t really understand how this is related to problems with cc.
The only thing I want is to avoid typing in the same 5 email addresses over and over again in the to-field of the email. And I expected a contact group to do the trick since the Mail app uses the defined emails from the Contact app.

So I don’t need to use cc in any way.

Ofc I do not know if this applies in your case, nor whether the problem is actually with the “group” approach (it sounds as if maybe that is a problem in Mail / Snappymail) but as free users are severely rate limited it may be connected, idk.

Okay @aibd - thanks for the hint. Only one way to find out: I will have to start a paid subscription

I just tested clicking the three dots and asking it to open the email. For me it works. It opens my email client, which is Tuta Mail. Maybe the browser’s default email client for mailto links needs to be adjusted?
