eSIM Activation Error - Murena Mobile

I would say the physical sim is the safer bet.

You can follow the progress here:

It seems to have been solved: eSIM doesn't work anymore on FP4 after A14 (#8442) · Issues · e / Backlog · GitLab
We just need to wait for the release to leave “testing” branch.

Yeah but that could take 1-3 weeks. You never kow (just keeping it grounded).

I’ve downloaded and installed the test build (2.7-rc.2) and got partial functionality back. I can send/receive SMS and calls but mobile data still doesn’t work. Resetting the APN to default and resetting the network settings didn’t work. I’m a US user on Murena mobile so right now I’m waiting to hear back from the Murena help desk to get the manual APN settings and try that next. Some progress is better than none I guess.

Appreciate you for testing this. I’m currently running Fairphone OS FP4.TP2N.C.0128.20241030 until an official fix has been released. Not having any issues with mobile data, calling, or texting currently with Murena Mobile using this OS.

Installed the newest testbuild. For me everything works again, mobile data too. Great job @e and thanks everybody here.

@Grylnor may I ask how you installed the test build? I’d like to give it a shot myself. Previously, I installed e/OS and then under Developer Options I enabled Beta updates as part of my troubleshooting, was that how you went about it?

I activated development mode. I hope its ok to copy the text from e /os/ here:

Follow these stepss

  • Enable the developer mode: From Settings, open About phone, and tap 7 times on Build number
  • Enable access to the /e/OS update test channel: From Settings , open System, show Advanced, and open Developer options, scroll bottom, and enable Connect to /e/OS test channel
  • Check for updates: From Settings, open System updates, refresh if required with the arrow at top right
  • Download, then install the latest update to test. After the reboot, you can disable the options enabled previously:
  • Disable access to the /e/OS update test channel: From Settings, open System, show Advanced, and open Developer options, scroll bottom, and disable Connect to /e/OS test channel
  • Disable developer mode: From Settings, open System, show Advanced, and open Developer options, uncheck On at top

Hope it helps. Have a good one.

Update - I already had my eSIM activated using Fairphone OS. I just reset my phone and am now running e/OS via the following build with no issues. I’m not about to deactivate my existing eSIM to see if it works or not, but at least everything appears to be in order currently. Mobile data works like a charm. Texting is fine, haven’t tested a call yet but I’m assuming if text works so will calling.

All,

It looks like the GitLab listing for this issue has been closed on Murena’s end. Here’s to hoping it’s smooth sailing for other FP4 users moving forward!

That is because the fix is coming as part of the v2.7 release which has started. Should land on the user devices soon :crossed_fingers:

I am an fp4 user and still cannot connect with network with esim after installing 2.7. I am not tech savvy but am very frustrated with this process. Please help!

Pl share eSIM on FP4 feedback in the above quoted thread

I have read other accounts of fp4 users who have successfully upgraded to 2.7 with no problems using esim. Yet my phone hasn’t. What should i do now? What steps should i take?

Hello @Fp4user,
Unfortunately, I do not own a FP4 so that I cannot really help you. However, maybe someone else can - is it OK for you to share your mobile carrier?

Yes it is T-Mobile. Its actually murena service which piggybacks on the T-Mobile network. The esim is from murena
