I have a Fairphone 3 that came with eOS pre-installed. For a number of reasons I don’t want to get into right now, I’ve been considering going back to plain Android and I was just wondering: if I go to “Settings > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset)”, will it reset to eOS as it was when I first bought it, or will it have stock Android (or I guess Fairphone’s version)?
Yes it will.
In order to roll back to (I understand discontinued) Fairphone’s OS there is https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/18896094650513-How-to-manually-install-Android-on-your-Fairphone.
It will factory reset to eOS, you will have to install the Android ROM or if FP has there own ROM, not sure. I don’t own one but wish I did.
Thank you. I was hoping I could revert back to Android to make the change as smooth as possible. Now I only need to figure out if Android 13 is good enough for my needs, but I will check that with Fairphone directly.
Thanks again ![]()
When you Factory reset, you will not go back in /e/OS Android version. You will stay on your existing /e/OS Android version (all userdata deleted).
What I mean is if I go ahead and manually install stock Android, it looks like Android 13 is the latest version available. But I’m now seeing that the Fairphone 3 is officially not getting any more updates, which is a bummer, but actually simplifies things a lot for me. I’ll just stay with what I have until I can get myself a new FP6, then.
FairPhone 3 is at a15eOS4.2 so ahead of stock ROM. Unsure uf it will get a16eOS.
Fairphone has stopped supporting FP3 with updates and spare parts (officially announced).
end of life …
Staying with e/ OS will ensure further updates.
Mmm, unfortunately the problem is with eOS. Or at least, I think so, but I’ll start a new thread for that if need be. Until I can switch phones, I’m thinking of installing LineageOS but the question is whether is up to date for the FP3. Does anyone know?
Lineage and Lineage4microg are both on a15.
