Hello,
today in managed to finish all steps of the easy installer, 24/24.
It is a Fairphone 5.
Unfortunatily the phone does not start. It shows still the screen of FastBoot mode. I can change between Start / Restart bootloader / Recovery mode /Power off
I tried every on and the result is always the same. It comes back to FastBoot mode. One time I could see the e/OS/ sign. But until now I couln’t get there again.
sorry for my delayd answer
I had to sleep al littel and in the morning tryed to answer per mail but faild …
OS on the phon has been android 14 and on the pc is windows 10.
The sreen I saw just one time was like the first picture, white background with the colorful logo of e/OS/.
I am not sure, but I think I used Reboot system now.
This screen is not expected during the install process for this particular device, why it didn’t worked…
Good point is the bootloader must be already unlocked !
Install “fastboot” (included into “platform tools” and also “git-bash” as explained in the official instructions.
Put the device in Bootloader / Fastboot mode, plug it to the PC, and check “windows device manager”.
If you see driver problems (yellow triangle), launch “Windows Update” (with search for optional drivers enable) [Solved] Windows does not see my phone in Fastboot mode
Thank you very much for your help.
I think it will take a while for me to read, comprehend and do it.
During the installation yesterday I had to update the drivers for the first connection to the easy installer.
have a nice day/evening
@piero’s option 3. runs from Fastboot mode and requires no Recovery to start.
Your bootloader screen (big green START at top) should have Fastboot mode highlighted in red and it is expected will confirm that the installer completed the unlock … unlocked highlighted in red.
Hello ! Thanks.
But the security patch level still says 2025-05-01 for this manual /e/OS, and In my phone, the android security was 2025-05-05.
Don’t I risk hard bricking?
/e/OS build : U community (Security patch: 2025-05-01)
is still a new subject, it used not to happen; all SPLs were defined by month and until recently generally only the 5th of the month was mentioned.
It has been asserted here Vendor Security Patch Level (SPL) in Fairphone 5 - #21 by sophimae that a relocking succeeded. However no evidence is presented of how the index is actually recorded on the device … is it a date in regular date format or is it some code to denote month only?
The documentation currently does not mention any “code” for this … it just says don’t roll back the index.
More input from others or perhaps the dev team @Manoj on the subject 01- month vs 05-month would be appreciated.
This is an option … but remember that subsequent locking will Format data.
You could “test” the included Seedvault backup and restore later, but read carefully how much will be restored. You may find some important data must be backed up independently.
I don’t have anything on this phone so I absolutely don’t give a care haha
I would just like to be sure that if I flash a newer os i can lock fastboot without bricking even though the case right now may be problematic
(BTW flashing an OS removes all the previous OSs installed before or do I need to clean?)
What I mean is :
If I flash now a new version of eos, with a newer security patch, does it make sure I can relock the fast boot with no risk of bricking even though there was this uncertainty mentioned above ?
Thanks for the answer!
So if in the mean time I flash an older SPL than what was at the unlocking, but then flash a newer one, I can lock my device afterwards with no risk of bricking?
Also, I don’t understand why this SPL is still 01.05.2025?
Although on the release page, there are much more recent ones?
