Feedback for v3.2

I can install apps again with this workaround, thanks !

Hope the default FP5 value to be fixed soon.

However, the reinstallation of the Youtube app didn’t fix the immediate crash when I click on it (so the workaround I found is to use YouTube from the browser since 3.2-a15 on my FP5)

Everything works, including USB tethering and Mobile hotspot. Bugs I already had persist: battery percentage when phone is off and charging doesn’t change, and location is still extremely capricious.

I have FP5 now on v3.2 and studied this quite a bit before and after upgrade from v3.1.4. App install/update working/not working is consistently inconsistent. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. I tried many things in vain to establish a pattern why this is, including different VPN endpoints from different continents, different times of the day etc. However, if it doesn’t work, wait a couple of hours, perhaps reboot the phone and it will eventually work.

Caveats: Maybe there are server side changes happening I don’t know. I also have nearly 100 apps and did not pay attention which store they are from. I do not use explicit google accounts anywhere.

you could try NewPipe as a replacement in the meantime (plus it can play in the background)

On FP4, with 3.2 the widget list no longer contains the Gallery widget… is there a way to add it back?

I’m having quite some issues with apps all around /e/OS.

  1. Firstly, downloading new apps or updates from the App Lounge just doesn’t work anymore… It says downloading, but never finishes.
  2. Some apps like Waze are doing weird things showing speed and location. It’s like it got ADHD. My speed is changed at least 5 times a second with a margin of about 8km/h. So when I’m driving 80, it fluctuates between 76 and 84, 5 times a second. That also makes the speed limit warning flicker. Sometimes it does the same with location, so my shown location on a map changed at least 5 times a second, which makes Waze crash.
  3. More of a user experience thing: the big bluetooth on/off button in the notification bar opens a new screen with a little switch… I mostly use bluetooth in my car to connect to it, and I don’t want to be bothered by a liiiitle switch while in a car…

I am running e/OS 3.2 on FP6. Everything works fine except battery life which seems to be lower than on 3.1.4, especially when the phone is not used. Yesterday evening I charged the phone at 80%, put it in airplane mode but just allowed wifi to remain connected. I went to bed and did not touch the phone until this morning. Over the night (7h), the phone lost 7%, so about 1%/hour. Not massive but under v3.1.4, the battery would only drop by 2-3% overnight. The battery usage does not really show a specific app to be the problem. However it reports that the processor is the main consumer with nearly 50% use. Also, I installed DevCheck app and it reports 0% of deep sleep… So if that info is reliable, I wonder if something is preventing the phone to enter deep sleep.

Is a drop of roughly 1%/h when not using the phone at all (screen off, airplane mode, only connected to wifi) normal? How could I identify the cause? Note my phone is not rooted and I don’t want to root it. Thanks for any insight!

I took a while to respond as I wanted to use the phone for a bit to give a thorough response.
The upgrade went well, there was no noticed regressions for me ito battery life or connectivity or app compatibility. Great!
The FP camera app is a great improvement, The privacy switch being configurable is also a big usability improvement.

The new persistent notification about permissions is incredibly annoying and I had to be overly aggressive in disallowing it to waste my notification space and attention time. This is a change that I strongly feel should be rolled back for everyone.

The charging limit doesn’t work. Out of the 3 times I had to charge the phone, the charging limit only worked once (sort of, it stopped charging at 93% instead of the 90% it should have). It keeps on pushing a semi-persistent notification that tells me it’s going to stop at 90% but as I mentioned, is not reliable.
In fact the notification annoyed me to the point where I turned the feature off since, once again, it takes up valuable notification real estate and attention time for basically no gain.

FP4, not rootet, offical A14.

I’m experiencing “lags” and slow reactions during usage, regardless which app (e.g. Photos, Firefox) I use.

The system does not react and often displays an error message. (…stopped working).

Updating the apps did not help.

Tried clearing cache of apps?

I ran into several problems; none of those were present in the previous OS version 3.0.

  • the worst is that i cannot install a number of apps, like the Vivaldi browser or GLS banking. In App Lounge both are stuck on ‘Retry’, in Aurora Store and F-Droid ‘not available’. Yes, i disabled faked geoloaction & IP-spoofing & cleared app cache(s). Without most of my go-to apps, the device is barely useful now.
  • Accessing WLAN via QR codes reliably failed, only entering the data manually and setting the encryption to ‘WP3-Personal’ worked. My WLAN uses WPA2+3.
  • I cannot active the Fairphone camera app; the option is present, but unresponsive. Also worked fine in v3.0.

Thanks for the hint.

Tried that - no effect.

Hi, is your bootloader locked?

Bootloader is locked.

Spoofing a Pixel 9a in Aurora Store’s setting side-stepped the worst problem with the apps for me.

Hello, I posted this about the previous version, for recall :

Unfortunately, things are worst now : I cannot detect any position at all, the icons are just turning infinitely (for example on CoMaps or G**gleMaps) and apps do not detect any satellites.

Am I alone ??

Thank you very much

Several users with trouble before reported improvement.
Location works for me, too.

Have you tried shutting down the phone (no reboot, real shutdown), waiting a few seconds, then turning it on again?

Edit: Else …

Work on the avicii is in progress. I pinged the developers again. We had some issues with the test device and it has now been resolved and the team has restarted work. Will update when I have an ETA from the team.

So after 2 weeks, following problems stands out:

  • missing option to use Fairphone camera from the lock screen or from the power button
  • from time to time I get the notification that the access to camera and microphone was granted (I think this is the same notification, when the settings of the moments switch are set to camera/mic and its toggled. I have it set to do not disturb)
  • From time to time the phone looses it’s wifi connection. No networks are seen, as if I`m in the middle of nowhere. Restarting the phone restores the access to wifi.

I have noticed that when playing locally-saved videos on Telegram or in the Gallery, it will sometimes only show the first frame (audio plays normally) unless I close the video and start it again, in which case it plays normally. Never happens with Newpipe.
