Fennec Fdroid may be compromised

I’ve been using Fennec Fdroid for a while, and besides the Wordpress Stats Tracker when syncing with Mozilla / Firefox profile settings, there were few or no trackers blocked. However, since at least February of 2026, Fennec has been showing many trackers all the time. When I used Mull from Fdroid, it did not show as many if any, and as I continue to use Ironfox from Obtainium, it does not show as many if any. I just saw that a thread from another user closed recently, or I would have added to it.

I checked exodus, and the last version scanned was v146, showing only the usual old Mozilla Telemetry and the Sentry Crash Reporter. That version was from before Dec. 20, 2025. My attempt to scan the current v148 was unsuccessful.

There may be a problem with the build being defective, or they failed to remove things they normally would have.

I think I will try Waterfox, as it is a similar fork, though built a bit differently, and is on the Google Play Store and has had its most recent build scanned. I’ll see if it shows anything abnormal. I may even try regular Firefox.

The blocked trackers you are seeing are most likely from visited websites rather than built into Fennec. Probably nothing to worry about.

That’s not probably, it’s sure. You just have to look at the name of the trackers, and search about them on the net. They are websites ones often blocked.
