What about upgrading from A14 community to A15 community? Will it be possible without data loss, even in command line?

On my Pixel 5 (redfin), I had to wipe it clean to move from A13 official to A14 Community, I don’t want to do this again, too time consuming.

When switching one build to the other thats what happens.

You can download the zip and use ‘local update’ in the updater. Use the 3 dot menu in the top corner. I did the same with my redfin. As it is custom, you should have a backup ready, you never know what can happen.

Any word about the expected release date of the Official version of A15 for Pixel 8 “shiba”? A14 is not installable anymore, thanks to Google’s anti rollback sh*t. The Community edition makes the bootloader non-relockable which knocks out a great deal of essential apps. So at the moment without A15 Official /e/OS is a no-go for Pixel 8 owners.

What is an ‘essential app’?

For me essential are all of my banking apps, my commuter app and android auto.
I think in 2025 it’s safe to say that a banking app is essential on a smart phone. Without it my phone is only a fancy gadget.

I’m not sure if every user really sees it that way.
Don’t expect any guarantees regarding the functionality of banking apps.

Besides that, I’m fully rooted (unlocked bootloader, Magisk) and all my banking apps work fine (N26, Openbank, PayPal, Raisin, Consorbank, Spark S-ID-check). So, no need to panic.

There have been changes at the LOS side on device code bases which have resulted in builds failing on our side. Will share the final list of what can be released with v3.1.1 once the builds are done.
