I’ve put a question mark because all my issues started quite a bit after installing 3.6
At first I had trouble with third-party-apps losing connection to their respective servers on both an FP3 and FP5 using /e/OS 3.6 (starting March 28th). When deciding to give these apps a hard reinstall, I couldn’t download them in App Lounge. I’ve since found out that logging out and back in with my Google Account in App Lounge fixes this.
Yesterday, Google Maps started not being able to connect to its servers. microG works fine in YouTube (the only other Google service I still use), but not here. Readding microG accounts, deleting app data, reinstalling Maps and rebooting my phone (so all the standard stuff to do) hasn’t improved anything. This issue replicates on the FP3 (where I wasn’t using Google Maps).
Edit: Forgot to mention the Google Maps version I’m using, which is 26.13.06.887680004 (same as the one mentioned in the bug report).
same here. I have FP5 with eOS 3.6 (Updated many days ago)
Since yesterday i can not use google maps. Google maps error message: “No internet connection”.
Reboot, Cache clear, re-install of google maps: No change.
Everything else works fine.
I am using version 11.155.0103 (1067793820) and it seems to work fine on v3.6. That’s an older version than what you used though. I froze that version and no longer update the app. But maps work well and I see no reason to upgrade. For regular use, I use GMaps WV too.
It can hopefully be easily fixed. Be aware that a possible fix may take one or two additional months until it shows up in the microG installation of /e/OS.
You may use Aurora Store to downgrade Google Maps, or (temporarily) use an alternative.
You can use Aurora Store, which is similar to App Lounge. It is available in App Lounge because it is an F-Droid app.
When you have opened the overview of an app, you can select the three-dots menu in the upper right corner. There, you can enter the version code of an older app to download (if still available).
Unfortunately, I do not know the code for the older version of Google Maps app. Maybe a user here can help?
