Google Search on Android 15

Google Pixel 3a xl, Android 15.

Since the intallation of the Update to A15 I have noticed that “Google Search” appears on almost any entry field. I have tried to get rid of it (installing Google Search and trying to swith it of, deinstalling Google Search etc.). has anybody an idea how to switch this off? It is annoying and obviously something is reading every entry I make.

Best regards

Bernd

Wrong forum, this forum is not about Android support, it is about /e/OS murena, which have no influence on what is happening in Android

Did you do the Android version upgrade back then or just recently?

Please give your current version details … [HOWTO] Give complete /e/OS version info easily for support, answers, comparison etc

/e/OS is an Android OS, as it is based on AOSP.

It is not clear how much Google you see and where. Is this originating from a Browser? Are you using default Browser only?

Default Browser has top right 3 dot menu > Settings > Search engine. Has this got accidentally contaminated with Google?

Default browser is set to murena-search, Brave and Firefox are set to Ecosia and all the other rubbish like quick searches … switched off. Every browser shows “google-search” proposals in any entry field. This occurs even with TOR-Browser.

would make sense to post an example screenshot

Sorry, the whole thing is done because the phone just broke down, no access to the net any more (which by the way solved the issue). I will have to get me a “new” old phone after which I will give it another try and eventually come back.

Here I am back again after access to net has been restored, so has the “Search”-Window.

In each web browser app you have to not only change the default search engine (as you already did) but also remove unwanted search-engine that may be used to provide suggestions (Empfehlung/Vorschlag)

Your problem is not related to /e/ OS, google search source code cannot pop out of nowhere.
/e/ OS cannot be held responsible for app content …

You are also saying that

That does not make sense and does not help in understanding the situation.

Hi,

I didn’t want to make e/OS responsible for nothing. I was just asking for a tip where to search for the entry which causes these windows.

thanks for nothing

Hmmm … maybe not the browser if all seem to behave the same.

Here is a different thought. Unusual keyboard … and I see an icon

which I do not recognise.

Might your keyboard be responsible ??

Hi,

I deactivated and reactivated this keyboard (typewise - I love it because I have to enter french and spanish text from time to time). For now Google search is gone.

Thank you very much for the hint
