Less than three months later, I’m back: I’m back with e/OS! After four years of freedom that I enjoyed with e/OS (despite all its limitations), I couldn’t stick with Google Android any longer!
I’ve opted for the “two-smartphone solution” and will use my OnePlus for all the tracker junk and proprietary garbage that requires Google Play.
I’m currently setting up my FP6 with e/OS 3.1.1—with all the great open source alternatives I’ve come to love under e/OS.
The same applies to me: age does not protect against foolishness!
Another quick update:
I’ve now gone back to using only /e/OS on my Fairphone 6. I’m going to sell my OnePlus 13. I’ve abandoned the idea of keeping it as a “regular” second phone.
The apps that didn’t run on /e/OS—for example, the one from my health insurance company—were so bad and useless that I don’t want to put up with a bad system like Google Android for them
I now have everything I need again and, above all, the feeling that the smartphone and its operating system belong to me. That’s something money can’t buy! After four years, I can no longer do without /e/OS!
Freedom is the most important thing to me, and like nothing else, it is in danger these days!
Welcome back. I’m new to e/is coming from years with an iPhone. It is a wonderful feeling not to be tracked everywhere I go and everything I do. Even my UK banking app works flawlessly with trackers blocked. The only thing I miss is contactless payment so I just carry my card now. I love my new Fairphone 6 gen. I would never go back to Apple.
