[HELP] I cannot manage to install e/os in my android FP6

Hello everyone,

I bought an android Fairphone 6 and I’d like to install e/os in it but I can’t manage to do it.

I’ve tried the e/os installer but it’s seems my phone and my computer (windows 11) can’t connect the way it need. (I can see my FP6 in my computer and could transfer files but the installer won’t connect).

I’ve tried to manually install the e/os but I’ve got the same problem everytime. I can’t detect my FP6 so the adb and fastboot command won’t work.

I tried to use my pc (windows 11 too). I then saw my FP6 listed in the adb devices and get the notification in my phone but after I allowed it, my FP6 disappeard from the adb devices and the commands failed.

I tried solutions listed in differents forums to make it work but it won’t.

Does someone have an idea how to process ?

Thank you so much !

Thanks for your response

I tried this solution before and my drivers were up to date according to windows

May I double check that you updated drivers but very importantly when the phone is connected to the PC in Fastboot mode.

However there are lots of other reasons if it is an eosinstaller problem and Manual install may be easier than troubleshoot the installer.

with the phone in fastboot mode, I was able to update the drivers. I then tried this [HOWTO] a Clear Guide to install "IMG-e-builds" when /e/ web installer fails

but when I enter the command fastboot flashing unlock_critical, it says Failed (remote: device already : unlocked) fastboot: error: command failed

Can I conclude that my device is unlocked, proceed to the next step and install the e/os ?

Thanks !

you can confirm by running :

fastboot oem device-info

It finally worked ! Thank you all !

Last thing, how can I verify that the android security version of the stock os was older than the new one included in the e/os (official version) so I can relock the bootloader ?

You have to know what it was. If it was fully up to date it could have this

I’ve done an update of the previous android OS just yesterday. Tell me if I’m wrong but from what I understand, I should probably wait for the v3.4 e/os to release before trying to relock my bootloader, right ? (v3.3-a15 currently)

of course you can wait, but it looks unnecessary regarding documentation

My android security update is from 01/12/2025 and the e/os v3.3 is from 05/12/2025, so that’s good right ? (just wanna double check)

NO,

Releases · e / os / 🚀 Releases · GitLab

:warning: Security fixes

This /e/OS 3.3 version includes all Android security patches available as of December, 1st.

what is that installed version ?

I’m not sure that I fully understand you. Here’s what my phone says.

System update

/e/os 3.3-a15-…-official-FP6

Android 15
December 10, 2025

Android version

Android version : 15

/e/OS version : 3.3-a15-…-official-FP6

Android security update : december 1, 2025

Vendor security patch level : August 5, 2025

Build date : December 10, 2025

The question you need to ask yourself is from what to what. Was that before you unlocked? I assume yes.

This is the critical date locked into your phone, the “Start point” in this example for a different phone FP5.

Sorry but you cannot decide without reading and understanding.

So when you launch the unlock command, you were in the situation described here :

Yes I think I was in this situation.

From what I understand, my e/os android security patch is from december 1, 2025 but the android os security patch was from december 5, 2025 so I shall wait before relocking cuz the e/os android security patch must not be older, right ?

From my understanding 2025-12-01 look more recent than 2025-11-05,
but i can be wrong in arithmetic
also it is your device, not mine…

What makes you say this?

I may have been confused by all of the differents dates written in my phone and in the documentation

I thought that some of them like “Android 15, December 10, 2025” were related to the android stock OS but it seems that everything that is written in my phone is related to the e/os, right ?

I summarize: the actual FP6 android SPL is from November 05, 2025 according to https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/18896094650513-How-to-manually-install-Android-on-your-Fairphone
and the android e/os SPL is from december 01, 2025 according to about phoneandroid versionandroid security update or Install /e/OS on a Fairphone The Fairphone (Gen. 6) - “FP6”

The e/os SPL is not older than the android SPL so I can relock ?
